Digging Into Housing Solutions: Housing Stock Group Advances Research and Education Goals

At the March meeting, the Housing Stock working group took a deep dive into research conducted by SAW Housing volunteers on Housing Trust Funds and Land Banks from across the country. The team shared key findings on how these models are structured—including insights on funding priorities, staffing approaches, and revenue sources.

The next phase? Presenting this information to local governments and beginning the conversation on how these tools might be implemented right here in the SAW region.

In addition to this policy-focused work, the group is mobilizing around education and advocacy, with a focus on:

Dispelling myths about affordable housing and the individuals most impacted by housing costs,

Educating the public and stakeholders on rental and homeownership support resources, and

Encouraging volunteerism to strengthen our housing response.

This work will take shape through public-facing materials and strategic conversations with community leaders, laying the groundwork for deeper understanding and collaborative solutions.
