On Thursday, February 27, members of the SAW Housing leadership team met with planning and community development officials from Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta County to discuss regional housing strategies. The meeting focused on aligning efforts across jurisdictions, with discussion topics including local development challenges, the use of housing trust funds and land banks, and the potential for centralized income qualification processes. SAW Housing representatives also outlined the organization’s formation, goals, and ongoing initiatives.
Participants emphasized the importance of identifying scalable, data-driven models to address housing issues and agreed on the need for coordinated next steps. Consistent communication among municipalities, housing providers, and community organizations was identified as a key factor in ensuring effective implementation.
SAW Housing plans to continue its role as a coordinating body by sharing research findings with localities, formalizing partnerships, and supporting public education and advocacy efforts. The coalition’s focus remains on practical solutions that address both policy barriers and community needs.
Thank you for staying connected and thank you for working to make the world a better place.
